George Phillips

1980-1984 enlisted active duty in the United States Navy serving as a telecommunication specialist onboard the USS Mauna Kea and was honorably discharged as an E-6. Transferred to Active Navy Reserve for seven years attached to Naval Air Station Alameda until 1991.

November 1984 began the Oakland Police Academy and graduated in March 1985. I was assigned to Patrol Division, Narcotics Street Task Force, Youth Services Division, Community Services Division, Entry Team (SWAT), Defensive Tactics Instructor, and the Office of the Chief of Police as the Public Information Officer (PIO). Promoted to Sergeant of Police in 2003.

I was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division where I investigated crimes related to domestic violence, burglary, and robbery. In 2006 I was transferred to the Homicide Division and remained there until I retired in 2012.

In 2013 I was hired by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office Inspector Division. I have been assigned to the Wiley Manuel Courthouse, Rene C. Davidson Courthouse, and CEPD (Consumer, Environmental Protection Division) where I currently serve as an auto insurance fraud investigator.
