Karen Johnson has worked as an Investigative Enforcement Analyst for the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (Bureau) for the last 4.5 years, and has been assigned over 200 cases. Karen is responsible for investigating consumer complaints and Bureau enforcement referrals regarding private postsecondary institutions. In this position, she has excelled at investigating large and complex fraud cases.
Prior to working for the Bureau, Karen was an Investigator for Comcast Communications for eight years. While employed for Comcast, she prepared and/or assisted in 800 civil fraud cases, and 700 criminal arrests. Her largest case involved a national fraud suspect that utilized 15 different websites, and maintained locations in California and Nevada. The investigation concluded with criminal search warrants at nine locations, and involved 85 local, state, and federal agents. Following the arrests, it was determined the primary suspect had grossed $10 million from the fraudulent activities. Additionally, Karen recommended and launched three new financial recovery programs that deposited millions of dollars in recovered revenue.
