Dr. Mason is a Senior Engineer at ARCCA specializing in the biomechanics of injury, corrosion, fracture and fatigue of metals, plastics and welds, and motor vehicle accident reconstruction. He also provides metallurgical laboratory analyses, as well as analyses of failed consumer and industrial products and equipment and machinery design/failure. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer and is accredited in Crash Data Retrieval, Commercial Vehicle Event Data Recorders and Ladder Safety and is a certified Forklift Operator.
Jim also specializes in the investigation of all types of motor vehicle collisions, including imaging of event data recorders in commercial and passenger vehicles, data retrieval from vehicle infotainment and telematics systems, automotive fraud, and determination of liability.
Dr. Mason has a Ph.D. in Solid Mechanics from the California Institute of Technology and both a Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He has also received a Professional Science Master’s Degree in Biology from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
